Whatever you want to call it, we have instructors that can help you on your journey to lawfully protect and defend yourself in the state of Florida.
Before you start finding the right instructor, the FL Department of Agriculture can help you learn more about the requirements and if you are eligible for a FL Concealed Weapon License.
Ares has tried to create an easy and informative one stop page to help you find an instructor that offers a class that will meet the states requirements for obtaining a Concealed Weapon License in FL.
All of the instructors that teach at our range are independent businesses from the range. The local instructors listed on our site have chosen us as their home range and do most, if not all, of their training and classes at our range. They all are very knowledgeable and safe.
It is really hard to recommend one over another, because they all do a great job. They all have different personalities, teaching styles, class content, pricing, and time requirements. Hopefully, this page makes your search a little bit easier.
You do not need to own a gun to take the class. Most of the instructors have one that you can rent and extra ammo for purchase.
Different instructors might suggest or require different things for their class. I suggest checking with the instructor you sign up with.
If you do not own a gun, the range offers a Gun Trial lesson. This a good way to try a variety of guns before you buy one. Trae from Ares Training Facility has many years of experience helping a variety of people with all types of different situations and challenges to find the right gun for them. The goal is to find you a gun that you can feel safe and comfortable with when you handle and shoot it.

The easiest way to apply with the state is to make an appointment at your local county tax collector office. They will have you fill out the application electronically, as well as electronic finger prints and a picture. You will need to bring your certificate from the class, identification, and money. Always double check with the tax collector office to be sure you have everything when you go. It’s usually posted on their website.
Why do you have car insurance or home owners insurance? You hope you never have to use it, but you are glad you have it when you do need to use it! There have been some high profile cases in the news like Zimmerman and Rittenhouse. I’d hate to see their legal fees. Hopefully they had carry insurance.
It is a low cost way to make sure you have legal coverage. Different companies offer different coverage and options. Do your homework because there are a few to choose from. ConcealedCarry.com has a good article and chart that you can view here.
The 2 most mentioned at the range are USCCA and US Law Shield.
Trae and Julie Johnson personally use and recommend US Law Shield. Use promo code AFTNGR when you purchase your coverage.
Trae Johnson can give you a Gun Trial Lesson. He will bring out a collection of guns from Ares Arms for you to try. He can help you find a gun that is right for you. We want everyone to feel safe and comfortable when handling and shooting firearm, especially if it is on you every day.
We recommend starting with your local gun store. We have worked closely with the ones around our area. Besides a gun, don’t forget self defense ammo and target ammo while you are there!
